Makro Medical (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1996, as a supplier of diagnostic tests and other medical consumables. The considerable growth experienced since inception lead to the forming of a separate company, Makromed Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd, specialising in manufacturing and production of diagnostics. Today we are proud to be recognised as a leading manufacturer of urine reagent strips, both for human and veterinary use, and a distributor of a range of rapid immunochromatographic (rapid) tests, and latex agglutination tests. We combine our practical experience in manufacturing with our expertise in sales, marketing, and client relations to offer a truly unique service to clients worldwide. Our manufacturing plant occupies 1,500 square meters, and is situated in Johannesburg, South Africa. Amongst others, the facility offers a state-of-the-art laboratory for research, development and quality control, as well as the latest in high-tech scientific equipment used for the production of quality products. Presently we export to most countries in Africa, and also to the far East, South East Asia, Europe, South America and the USA.

In addition, MAKROmed® urine reagent strips are FDA 510K listed. MAKROmed has implemented and maintains a Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2000 guidelines, verified and certified by the Notified Body DQS Germany.
